We continue to practice creating, extending, labeling patterns with 2-4 elements.
label a pattern:
* ? ? * ? ?
A B B A B B
translate a given pattern or show the same pattern a different way:
# ? + # ? + # ? +
A B C A B C A B C
8 3 2 8 3 2 8 3 2

The concepts in Math that we are currently covering are done with oral practice or with manipulatives.
We are practicing counting forwards and backwards from 1-20. We use a number chart so that the children can see the numbers as they say them. The children are also learning to start counting at different numbers. For instance we might ask for them to start counting at 8 and stop at 15. Counting out loud is a good activity for the car.
We are working on making sets for numbers up to 20. The children will see a number or hear a number being called out and then they are using counters to show us a set for that number. At home, you can call out a number and have them use laundry to make a set. They can also count the number of forks or plates they will need to set the table.
We are learning to recognize the number words from 0-10.

We have learned to count by 2's to 20.
We are learning to count by 10's to 50.
Students are identifying one more or one less than a given number from 0-20.
