Reading
It is very beneficial for your child to be read to and to read everyday at home. When your child is reading let them hold the book. Beginning readers need to use their 'Reading Finger'. Please allow 'wait time'. That means that after your child has made an error in reading don't be too quick to jump in and point out their error. They must do the reading work by recognizing when their reading doesn't look right, sound right or make sense. If help is needed try one of our reading prompts such as looking at the picture (Eagle Eyes), saying the beginning sound (Lips the Fish) and sounding it out (stretchy snake).
